We believe it is important that you know exactly what happens to your data. At Maesy B.V., we only use your data to process your order properly, improve our service, and stay in touch if you wish. We never share your data with others for advertising or other commercial purposes.

Applicability

This privacy policy applies to the use of the website and the services made available through it by Maesy B.V. The publication of a new version invalidates previous versions. In this policy, we explain what data we collect, the purposes for which we use it, with whom and under what conditions we share data, how we protect data, and which rights you have under the GDPR.

About data processing

Below, you can read how we process your data, where we store it or have it stored, what security measures are applied, and who has access to the data.

Online store software (Shopify)

Our online store runs on Shopify. Personal data you provide for our services is processed within this platform. Shopify has access to data to provide us with (technical) support and does not use it for its own purposes. Shopify applies appropriate security measures (such as SSL/TLS encryption, access management, and certifications). Depending on your payment method, Shopify processes payment details and shares them, where necessary, with payment partners. Data may be processed outside the EEA; in that case, appropriate safeguards are applied (such as Standard Contractual Clauses).

Customer account

You can choose to create a customer account on our website. In that account, we store your name, email address, and order history so that you can view your orders, register returns, and enter your details more quickly when placing a subsequent order. Creating an account is entirely optional.

You can have your account deleted at any time by sending us a request via info@maesy.nl. After deletion, we retain only the data that we are legally required to retain (for example, due to statutory tax retention obligations).

Web hosting and email (TransIP)

Our hosting and (part of) our email facilities are provided by TransIP. TransIP processes personal data on our behalf and does not use it for its own purposes. TransIP implements appropriate technical and organizational measures to prevent misuse, loss, and unauthorized access (including encryption, backups, and access management). TransIP is bound by confidentiality.

Email and mailing lists

Transactional emails (e.g. order and shipping confirmations) and any newsletters are sent via Shopify. Shopify technically records whether emails are delivered and opened in order to monitor the quality of its services. Every marketing email contains an unsubscribe link at the bottom. Transactional emails required for your order will continue to reach you.

Payments

We use Shopify (and, where applicable, linked payment providers) to process payments. This involves processing, among other things, name, address, and payment details. These parties maintain appropriate security and do not retain data longer than legally permitted. Depending on the payment method selected, additional checks may be carried out (e.g. to prevent fraud).

Reviews (WebwinkelKeur)

We collect reviews through WebwinkelKeur. When you leave a review via WebwinkelKeur, your name and email address are shared with us so that we can link the review to your order. WebwinkelKeur may contact you for further details and, if we invite you, may use your email address to ask you for a review. WebwinkelKeur implements appropriate security measures and may engage third parties for its services; the same safeguards apply to them.

Shipping and logistics

To deliver your order, we share your name, address, and contact details with our logistics partners. We work with various carriers (such as PostNL, DHL, or DPD). These parties use your data solely to carry out the delivery and may engage subcontractors where necessary.

Invoicing and accounting (Shopify & AFAS)

For our administration and accounting, we use Shopify and AFAS. For this purpose, we share the order and customer data needed to create invoices, process payments, and comply with statutory tax retention requirements. This data is treated confidentially and stored securely.

External sales channels (bol.com)

We sell (some of) our products through bol.com. If you place an order there, bol.com shares your order and personal data with us so that we can process the order. We treat this data confidentially and take appropriate security measures.

Purposes and legal basis for processing

  • Performance of the agreement: ordering, payment, delivery, and customer service.
  • Legal obligation: statutory tax retention requirements and record-keeping.
  • Legitimate interest: website security, fraud prevention, and improving our services.
  • Consent: e.g., for marketing emails or placing non-essential cookies; you can withdraw this consent at any time.

Automatically collected data

When you visit our website, we automatically collect technical data (such as IP address, browser, device, and pages visited) to ensure our site functions properly and to improve it.

Analytics and cookies

We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to gain statistical insights into the use of our website. Where possible, we anonymize data and do not share personal data with Google for additional purposes. You can read which cookies we place and how to manage your preferences in our cookie policy.

Retention periods

We retain data for as long as necessary for the purpose for which it was collected or as long as legally required. Customer and order data subject to statutory tax retention requirements are retained in accordance with the statutory period. Data processed on the basis of consent is deleted when you withdraw that consent or when the data is no longer needed.

Data sharing outside the EEA

Some processors may store or process data outside the European Economic Area (EEA). In that case, we ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place (such as the Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission).

Cooperation with tax or criminal investigations

Where a legal obligation requires this, we may share data with competent authorities. Where possible, we will oppose unjustified requests within the legal framework.

Under the GDPR, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:
